Narrative Threads

Exploring history, place and identity

30 June - 11 August

Collectors, re-users of other people’s discards, explorers of everyday life and domestic traditions; those who draw on family stories and memory; and migrants whose work investigates the divide between different landscapes and cultures, are drawn together in the exhibition Narrative Threads. Textiles, jewellery, installation and photographic works, as well as artefacts, tools and samples, give insight into the artists’ inspiration, ideas and processes.

The exhibition features artwork by Wendy Lugg and invited artists Helena Bogucki, Trish Little, Elisa Markes-Young and Janie Matthews.

Homespun: The Fabric of Family –

Favourites from the Wanneroo Museum Collection

30 June - 11 August

Featuring favourite textiles and objects from the Wanneroo Regional Museum collection, Homespun looks back at the family milestones and daily domestic life of times gone by, to recognise the lasting value of cloth and stitch.

Weaving in significant stories and objects from Wanneroo’s past, this exhibition takes you on a journey through the history of sewing. From wedding dresses and christening gowns, to historical sewing machines and retro paper patterns, Homespun surveys the fascinating heritage of textiles within the once rural outpost of Wanneroo.
