LEELA SCHAUBLE WITH MADELINE BISHOP
3 FEB - 4 MAR
TAKEN SPACES is a collaborative exhibition between Leela Schauble and Madeline Bishop. The works explore the human presence among environments from which they are either visually absent or uninhabitable, considering alternative representations of human existence and experience.
Schauble’s video works were created on an artist residency to the Arctic Circle and focuses on an uninhabitable natural landscape, and the results of human interactions with this space.
Bishop’s photographs aim to capture human traces within spaces where people are physically absent, considering what is left behind in mere seconds or over decades.
The works both aim to understand our impact on the world around us, as well as exploring our place among the grand narrative of our planet, locally and in far-out places.
